SPRING 2013

"J' appartiens seulement à moi" (I only belong to myself) is the name of the women's ready-to-wear collection, that I created as a university project in 2013, centered around the working-night theme. It's geared towards a strong woman who faces daily challenges as a modern-day warrior.

The aim is to depict the threefold identity of a woman –a resilient and battle-ready woman, a self-assured woman, and a dominant woman . Each woman is unique, with her own narrative to tell, which is why every garment is meticulously designed to reflect her personal story. Because every woman has a distinct way of unveiling her allure.

Inspired by the garçonne movement and other related themes such as the 1920s and androgyny. The term "garçonne" is associated with a new breed of women who, advocating for women's rights and gender equality, embraced androgynous aesthetics, challenging the conventional and rigid notions of femininity of their time. They began sporting more masculine attire like tuxedos, suits, ties, and short hair. Their belief was that, at first glance, they appeared identical to men and, hence, should be treated with equal respect. In this era, women felt a newfound sense of liberation.
